It all started with jam and German bread and before long my mum and I were here, in love with a field, building an eco house, starting a business and gardening our little hearts out!
In all honesty, the seeds must have been sown in a previous little stint of living in the south of France. It obviously had instilled that “je ne sais quoi”, and we were to return!
From Canada (a whole other story), I moved to London where I opened “Lemon Monkey” a shop&café.
This is where the bread and jam come in. Some of my french suppliers, for those items in particular, became friends. They invited me to visit, Pas de Calais, of which I knew nothing. Well......a little quiet something got under my skin.
It wasn’t the dry and aromatic south, or the wild and wonderful Canada, nor the soft and grey England.
It certainly wasn’t London.
It was a calm and unpretentious landscape, with hills and valleys, woods and plateaux, streams and endless sky, all bordered by the most vast, magnificent and wild coastline!
And this is where I found what would become our home. It was a fast burn and in twenty minutes I decided to totally change my life and bring my mum along with me.
A field awaited!
